Save The Children Hong Kong - Generation Hope 2025

In recent weeks, relentless black rainstorms and extreme weather have once again reminded us that natural disasters are no longer distant possibilities—they are here, and their impacts are closer and more real than we might think.

Children face particularly devastating consequences from climate change. The natural disasters it triggers can shut down schools, destroy family homes, and even threaten children's lives and health. Therefore, there is an urgent need to ensure the next generation can grow up in a safe and sustainable environment.

Save the Children launched the five-year “Generation Hope” initiative in 2022, working globally to raise awareness about climate change and inequality while building a brighter, safer future for children. Hong Kong, this year’s two-month Generation Hope programme features four activities including a climate-themed movie screening and post-screening talk, beach cleanup, night safari in Mai Po, as well as a social innovation workshop - all aimed at deepening climate awareness among local youth.

The programme's kick-off ceremony and movie screening were successfully held at PREMIERE ELEMENTS, with Commissioner for Climate Change Mr. Arthur Lee as the guest of honor. Participants enjoyed the documentary "Four Trails", followed by a post-screening talk with director Robin Lee, the winner of "Best New Director" at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards for this very film. He shared how Hong Kong’s unique natural landscapes shaped his storytelling while weaving in powerful messages about environmental protection.
