Media Pitching Case Sharing: HK Inter-School Choral Festival 2025 Virtual Choir

Partnered with Mind HK and ELIAS, infusing positive energy with music and caring students’ mental health

In recent years, the emotional and mental health of school children has drawn increasing public concern, and many students inevitably face new environments and pressures as the school year begins. The Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival (HKICF), organised by The Hong Kong Virtuoso Chorus (HKVC), invited Mind HK to be the partner for the Virtual Choir Project and Every Life Is A Song (ELIAS) as a supporting organisation this year. Together, ELIAS’s co-founders – renowned composer Ms. Vicky Fung and lyricist Professor Chow Yiu Fai – created the theme song “We Sing,” a heartfelt anthem that authentically expresses the voices and emotions of young people and raises public awareness towards mental health of youth. Just before school year began, the Project held its Virtual Choir Premiere Screening and choir performance, with Mr. Cheuk Wing Hing, GBS, JP, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR and Professor Chan Ka Leung, SBS, JP, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics and the Director of the Centre for Gut Microbiota Research at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, as the officiating guests to cheer for the students.

Now in its fourth year, the Project has attracted 48 schools and more than 2,000 primary and secondary students and community choirs to take part. Building on last year’s premiere, team Prologue has again overseen media relations for the HKICF 2025 Virtual Choir campaign, coordinating media reception and press release distribution of the premiere screening event and arranging feature interviews.

In addition to recording videos of the theme song on campus, HKICF has blended in educational components related to mental health, including a focus group in the ideation stage. The Project successfully recruited 12 young people for the focus group to engage in in‑depth conversations with ELIAS co‑founders Ms. Vicky Fung and Professor Chow Yiu Fai in late October last year, to better understand young people’s views on mental health and ensure the piece resonates more closely with their inner voice.

While HKICF actively promotes choral education, it also hopes to educate students to care about social needs, including mental health issues and to give choral singing a deeper meaning. HKICF brought together many schools across Hong Kong to participate in the project, allowing different voices to be heard through the song, and telling students that no one is left behind in their emotional journey.
