In the face of an aging population, an increasing number of families face the challenge of elderly care. Although community-based respite and home care services are available, the limited resources are not comprehensive to meet the needs of every family. The responsibility of caring for the elderly falls on their family members. Caregivers face financial, physical and mental health challenges from day-to-day caregiving.
To support these caregivers, the “Jockey Club Stand-by-U Caregivers Community Support Project” was launched in 2024. With collaborative efforts from Sau Po Centre on Ageing, HKU, The Hong Kong Association of Gerontology (HKAG), St. James’ Settlement (SJS), the Christian Family Service Centre (CFSC), the H.K.S.K.H. Lady MacLehose Centre (H.K.S.K.H. LMC), the Salvation Army (SA), and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service – Hong Kong (ELCSS-HK), the project explores new service models addressing community-based carer support. The HKAG has been training volunteers and substitute caregivers to provide home respite support for the elderly, allowing caregivers to enjoy a short break and recharge from their demanding routines.
Team Prologue is delighted to assist in organizing the experience sharing event and workshops, providing comprehensive event support ranging from project management, event rundown, participant triage, to design, printing, on-site set-up, emceeing and event shooting. We are dedicated to delivering a seamless process and enjoyable experience for over 200 participants, project volunteers, social workers and caregivers. We wish to to give back to all the institutions and volunteers who have devoted themselves wholeheartedly over the past year, hoping they could feel the warmth and support of this caring community.
